Full Moon in Leo
Moon Opposite Sun
Every full Moon is a scrying mirror waiting to be examined. What its depths reveal is unique to each who dares to look: intimate, illuminating, disturbing on the level that makes great art and shakes foundations ripe for demolition. The full Moon reminds us that "divine" is a verb, as well as a noun.
When the intuitive Moon shines in her full glory, she opposes her consort and counterpart, the shining Sun, creating tension between our internal needs and external expectations. If our emotions match our actions, and vice versa, we experience this energy as empowering, illuminating and evocative. Though we may encounter challenges or emotional tensions today, especially those related to our past, those fossils are converted to the fuel that powers our ascension.
If we have attempted to bury our feelings, our intuition, issues with family or our past — all ruled by the inconstant Moon — we can experience tension today, a feeling of disconnectedness or emotional compulsion. Unpredictable reactions can bubble up from seemingly "out of nowhere" — which is always the deepest well of our feelings and memories.
Today, the full Moon enters Leo, the sign of the creator, performer, romantic, and hero. This full Moon rules the part of us which demands to be expressed at full volume. What does your inner beast want to roar to the world?
When the full Moon in spirited Leo opposes the Sun in its opposite sign, high-minded Aquarius, we are asked to think of the "big picture" when it comes to our creative drive. Aquarius is the sign of the genius, the eccentric advocate, the mad scientist, and rebel with a cause. What do we hope to do, create, or change with our actions?
Aquarius thinks on a global scale, and Leo rules the heart. When these alchemists share their knowledge, their love and liberation can change the world. Our potential demands to be demonstrated. It's time to write your novel, sing your solo, paint your picture and speak your piece. It's time to play your essential, breakout role on the world stage.
Meanwhile, mental Mercury is finishing up his retrograde journey, shacking up with powerful Pluto, who is squaring Uranus, the planet of rebellion and revolution, brewing potentially transformative confrontations and conversations. Secrets will be revealed, and power plays are very possible.
Pluto challenges us to know ourselves even as the Moon demands that we demonstrate our internal truth with external actions. Change is afoot, and quite momentous. Some truth or sense of purpose can no longer be ignored. Compulsive behavior and surprise breakdowns are possible, because we are more willing to face reality — if breaking off relationships, contracts or contact is what must be done for us to fully express ourselves, then so be it.
Tonight is the night to set your intentions for who you wish to be in this world, to integrate your shadow, to love it as your light. Shadow defines light, and light creates shadow. Are you who you are because you were shaped by your past, or in spite of it? Remember that whatever we bury, grows.
Our emotions guide us today, and if we're willing to listen, to venture into our psychological lion's den and face the beast within, our potential to emerge as heroes is unmatched for the rest of the year.
Are you ready to look in the mirror?
